As his song ‘Joy Bangla, Banglar Jai’ inspired the liberation war, his songs like ‘Ektara tui desh katha bal re eber bal’, ‘Akasher hai hai ekrash neel’ make us happy. Three of his songs are among the top 20 Bengali songs of all time in a BBC poll. He was the director-producer of many movies starting from Nantu Ghatak and the music director of many more movies.Dr. Hasan said, among all ethnicities in the world, Bengalis have unique characteristics. The main reason is our culture. Bengali songs are an inimitable part of that culture. Those who enriched Bengali music and culture, people remember their names with eternal respect.Shilpakala Academy Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky remembered Gazi Mazharul Anwar in the meeting by his wife Zohra Kazi, son Sarfaraz Mehdi Anwar, daughter Dithi Anwar, distinguished poet Mohammad Rafiquzzaman, lifetime member of Gitikba Sangh, composer Sheikh Sadi Khan, lyricist Moniruzzaman Monir.Leeton Adhikari Rintu as the current acting president as Gitikbi Sangh president Shahid Mahmud Jungi, Music Composers Society president singer Nakeeb Khan, Gitikbi Sangh general secretary Asif Iqbal, organizing secretary Zulfiqar Russell.. Singers Association of Bangladesh singers Kumar Biswajit, Rafiqul Alam, Abida Sultana, Khurshid Alam etc. Yakub Ali Khan, Shahidullah Faraji, Pulak Adhikari, Ravi Chowdhury, Ashraf Babu, Kazi Hablu and many famous personalities from the cultural arena attended the memorial service.
