The White House has condemned the police attacks on peaceful protests in Iran recently. The condemnation came in a statement signed by Press Secretary Jean-Pierre. The statement said, “We are horrified by the news of police behavior with university students.
Police violence against peaceful protesters and mass arrests followed the death of a young woman named Masa Amini in IranThe protests have been going on for more than two weeks. On September 13, a 22-year-old Kurdish girl was arrested in the capital Tehran for not wearing the hijab ‘properly’. His family claims that the police tortured Masa Amini.
Masa died in the hospital 3 days after the incident. White House press secretary Jean-Pierre said in a statement that university students have “justifiable” reasons to be angry. Young people are fleeing Iran as security forces crack down on protesters for weeks.
